The bulk of the game is conceived as a strategy game preparing to assault Morgoth in Angband between Mereth Aderthad and the Dagor Bragollach (the test of how well the player has prepared their forces). The prologue has Annael talking to Tuor about how the Long Peace unfolded, and also what happened to Tuor's mother, Rían, after the Nirnaeth.

It ties into the concept of Freedom on two counts

1) the time of the Long Peace is the Noldorin Princes consummating their desire to rule realms freely of their own will after being inspired by Fëanor to come back to Middle-Earth (including Galadriel),

2) the fact that in the aftermath of the Bragollach and the Arnoediad, Tuor being fostered by Annael then endures a period of slavery and regains his freedom

(presented as a Prologue although Tuor's story occurs after the main activity of almost all the strategy game which is about building up the resources prior to the Bragollach and then being tested, kind of like Sid Meier's 1994 Colonization has a climax with the American Revolution to see how well you stack up against the British Expeditionary Force). You work most of the game to amass forces and then Morgoth's "rivers of flame" is the start of the end-phase

The map of Beleriand in this variant was done by NoobShyCo of DeviantArt and his roommate (Antoine Becquet) in about 2012. It is altered to a Mercator projection by myself and made three earlier appearances (release CXXXVII , CCXLVI and CCCLXIX).

I liked the result of doing the Mercator and realized suddenly that the bend of Arda's ancient geometry matched this end product, if we pretend that the Chasm of Ilmen was the black space at the extreme left beyond the diagonal bound of the projection.

It would have been more proper to draw some remainder of Araman's coast personally but time constraints didn't permit.
